Hello chicken people! :D
One of my buff Orpingtons ( Rooki) started behaving weird around September 15 th, she was making herself look bigger every time she saw me and making noises that sounded to me like the ones male pigeons do and started spending more and more time inside her nest and every time I approached her she made a noise that sounded like " out out" that at first I thought It was funny. Then the day when she wouldn't leave her nest to eat or drink arrived. Then is when I realized she was broody. At first I didn't take it too bad, thinking that it would be something that will pass soon and I started taking her out of her nest to make her drink and eat, but soon after she ate she came back in her nest even when there was no eggs in the nests ( I used to have a fake one I used to train them that was still there and that I took out) So I decided to make a pen for her underneath her coop and keep her there until her sisters (I only have 4 chickens) were done laying her eggs and then close the coop and let her free roam with the rest. But she spent the whole time trying to get into the coop even thou it was closed. She appear to me like she was an angry chicken, and making herself look big and fluffy every time she saw me.
After about 8 days since she started behaving like this she didn't seem to be broody any more and was acting normally. But no eggs. Not a single egg since September 19th. I'm talking about my best layer, she has laid an egg every single day since she started laying in August 10th, in that whole month and a half there were only 3 days that she didn't lay ( I keep count of the eggs and the chickens that lay them because I found fascinating that in a month 4 chickens produced 100 eggs! I was super excited!! Rooki has laid so far 3double yolkier in a month!)
So, as I say, it's been more than 2 weeks since her last egg. I do not know much about chickens yet, specially broody ones and I'm worried about knowing whether or not she will lay again and if she's gonna be my best layer again.
Now one of my other chickens , Phoebe, is starting to show similar behavior, she's making that "pigeon" clocking too. Should I be worried??
What can I do?
Did I do anything wrong???
I love my girls and I want the best for them. 4 chickens is all I can have by now and I don't want to replace any of my girls. ( i will never do!)
Any advice?? :fl
Is Rooki going to lay again??:barnie
Thank you!

Oh, she really doesn't want to hear what I have to say...lol!
Oh! Colbie Bear is GREAT! I couldn't ask for a better dog! I have had many diferent breeds and I thought I would stick with the German Shepherd after my last one, but I always wanted a Golden Retriever and now I don't want any other dog! He is PERFECT!! :D

he looks like a really good dog. i have a chocolate cocker spanial, she is the best behaved dog i ever knew, and ive had her for 3 yrs now but i dont really like her. i know thats terrible to say but she is a suck up if u know what i mean, no play, no life, jealous dog. oh well u got what u got i guess. one day i will have a real dog.haha

LOL, I'm sorry to hear, but it sounds like a cocker Spaniel to me! All the ones I have met were like that!! Haha

i didnt know they were all like that. i had a english setter once, now that was a dog! got her at dog pound in detroit . she wieghted in at a whopping 11 lbs. she gained 1lb a day for 11 days double her weight. she walked on her hind legs and ate socks whole! i had to use that face coller, i forget what its called and i rigged up a safe pole for my bike to get her energy out. she turned into a wonderful dog. her name was bambi. when i left MI. 6 yrs. ago i had to leave her as well and a day doesnt go by that i dont think of her still. she allso had a back pack that i filled with canned food to weigh her down just to tire her out but we would donate it along the way and she would let me know when my sugar was dropping by jumping on me and wrapping her paws around my neck so she saved me as well. i pass out alot. oh boy, i guess i do really miss her. haha sorry, first time i talked about it and i pick a total stranger. no response required.
