I have 5 ducks and one drake. Currently 2 of my ducks, a khaki campbell and a black swedish, are broody and overdue. 32 days on the black swedish and 29 on the other. This is my black ducks 2nd unsuccessful run in a row. A float test revealed only 2 floating eggs under the black and 1 bouncing egg under the khaki. The rest sank. I did eggtopsies and they were all rotten. Most still looked yolky with cottage cheese and a few were grey with definate development. Blacks first hatch was the same way, all rotten. They are nesting in secluded, dy corners of the shed they live in at night. I leave them alone as Ive found they break eggs if I mess with them. Am I doing something wrong? Are they bad mommas? Im at a loss here.

Not sure .But i have two of mine doing the same thing for the past three years.I also have several drakes. My mallards are doing poorly for the past two years. I only have two hatch from my ducks this year. But in the incubator i have about 75 precent hatch . My duck are setting out side in nest that they made on there own. My mosvoy are hatching fairly good . But none of my ducks are hatching like the did twenty years ago . They almost always came out with twelve to fifteen . Now i do good to get six to eight in hatch.Maybe we should look at the sprays farmer are using for weeds and bugs.

and genetically modified corn ect in the feed we use.

If it was some kind of spray I would say that your incubation rates would have been low as well. I wouldn't think it would affect the ducks ability to brood.

You say this has been happening with two of yours as well, are the others still having hatches? If so maybe I just got unlucky and two bad brooders went broody.

Another question I have is how do I get this darn black duck off the nest? She's been sitting now for 72 days. She's looking rough. I took the eggs away between the the two clutches, but she still sat flat the whole time. Ive tried running her out, but she just finds another place to sit. She is handle-able as opposed to the khaki who breaks eggs snd noses and such.

My guess is and only a guess is that it affect the bird in away so it can not keep a even temp control. There was apiece about song bird lose on the radio and it was do with the spray effecting there nervous system causing . Later nesting poorer hatching and poorer chicks. Now to stop your duck from setting .I would try what they say to with a hen .Put her in a wire or a cage on bare ground to lower there body temp. This does work on hens . I have done this a it worked great . But i have not tried it with a duck.
