PROFESSIONALLY Photograph your chicks for under $2.00!

I haven't checked this thread in years probably, but funny enough I ended up moving on and opening up a full portrait studio from 2010 to 2012 before I moved to Houston - and pet photography was my specialty. I've photographed dogs, cats, guinea pigs.... but oddly, never a chicken. I guess I'll have to do that soon.

It's funny to read the original post though. I knew nothing about lighting back then compared to what I know now! LOL

ETA: meh... I guess I checked it in 2011.

Played round with a similar setup for macro stuff at one stage. Never thought to use it on the chickens when they were little so thanks for the idea.

Can't help thinking the light would look better from the side rather than directly overhead. Overhead lighting is generally avoided by photographers.

Nahhh. In the fashion world its called 'butterfly lighting' - but after looking at your galleries, I'm sure you knew that already!

But, putting the lights on either side would work as well.

I've never gotten into studio stuff so have heard of butterfly lighting but never used. I just noticed the eyes ended up quite shadowed is all which is what made me think side lighting.

I just wish I'd thought to make another one of these for ours when chicks. I haven't really got anything good from when they were tiny and inside. Kicking myself now!!

Wow that is a big project!! Will be interesting where it takes you though!

I vaguely remember film, that was back when I thought I knew what I was doing but didnt realise the man developing them for me was fixing all my million mistakes LOL First time I got a roll developed and said please dont adjust settings it was pretty scary how bad they actually were LOL
