proffesional dog breeder advice. UPDATE: We have a tie!

So exciting!!
Can't wait to hear how things go in the next few weeks!

Hopefully all these ties mean PUPS!
I have no experience with actually breeding dogs... but what is the stats on multiple ties resulting in NO pups?
I'm just curious! I fully intend on working with Bernese and breeding them once my kids are out of the house or close to it... I have a decade or two before that happens though.. lol

If you have even a longish breeding with NO tie you can usually get puppies. Breeding with ties and no puppies means either the Sire or Dam has fertility issues. I've seen one female get artificially insenminated twice over three days and she only had one puppy. We think its because she wasn't really ovulating.

Finally after three tries one of my Fd. Ch. beagles is in whelp. She is at 3.5 weeks from the first breeding, and I palpated puppies today. They are about golf ball sized so I am guessing she caught on the early mating. The other two times that I bred her, I did so on the 11th and 14th days. We bred her starting at the 5th day through the 17th every third day. This is a b*tchline that I have had for more than 30 years and I was about to lose it. This will be my first litter in 4 years. Yes, I'm excited.

Sourland, how exciting! We should both keep updates on them on this thread, or we could start a new one, with pictures and weights each week? I would love to see some pictures of your dogs.

Today Brutus is like an insane boy, he wants to be with her all the time, to the point that if we grab his collar or hold him he whines and howls like you are killing him, and she has stood for a tie even when he was on the chain, I think tomorrow we will keep them seperate though, give them both a days break. He will even try to block her from coming when we call her to us, or to the house. Like he is saying "Don't go, stay with me you know you want to."
