ah silly me. that makes a lot more sense then aliens. maybe byc accidentally added a wind feature when they made the pfps round that spins them

Technology is moving fast these days, and atmospheric effects are a thing - you don't think Disney is spending animator hours moving hair up and down in a windy scene, do you? You just click a "wind" button, and the tech handles the physics for you (this is actually for real). And fancy tech tends to trickle down from its intended use scenarios down to the ordinary folks, like how velcro was designed by NASA for space, and now toddlers have it on their shoes. It was only a matter of time before the "wind" button ended up on people's apps and stuff.

That's because they aren't spinning. Because squares can't spin easily, the corners will catch. The others are spinning because they are circles, like little wheels, so there's nothing to stop them, obviously.
