Progress of my coop

I'm planning a 8 x16 run, that should be good for six chickens right?

Chicken math says 10 sf/chicken. 128 sf should be enough for a dozen chickens, but why push it if you don't have to.

Should my egg box be level with the floor? This is where I'm at with the construction. The area left and right of the coop will be their run.

I set mine up 3" (2-2x4 layed flat) that was because on my walk in I wanted to access from the outside. so the box is attached to the side of the coop. I wish now I had gone 6-10" to allow more area for the litter (deep little) on the floor. If I was doing pine shaving it would not be a issue.

My plan is if you are looking at the coop from the front was to put the egg box on the bottom and a window on top. I was going to put the bottom of the egg box even with the floor.

I would recommend to set it up at least the 3" that allows my nesting boxes to stay separate from the stuff on the coop floor. otherwise the chickens as they scratch there nest to what they want will kick stuff out. The being separate keeps the nesting boxes cleaner and in return cleaner eggs.
