Progression of my first hatch!

DSCN1440.jpg

These are my first 15 babies, I am sitting here debating on if I should put then in or not...

Yea I went ahead and put them in. Some of them I started collecting 5 days ago.

Just for the record I am really nervous, first I was really happy, now I am nervous.

What day is the best for the first time candleing them. I was thinking it was day 7 but I thought that I read that you could do it day 5. It's my first time I want to record it at all stages.

Okay is it better to tilt the tray the eggs are on or each one indivually? I got up all through the night last night and the temps varied slightly 99.1-99.6 so not too bad really, but then for some reason about 7:45 it dropped to 98.7 but then without me touching it it went back up to 99.3, so should I leave it or mess with the temperature?

I wouldn't adjust it unless it gets spikes below 96.5 or above 102. You could pick one egg an candle it every day If you wonted to keep a record but as a whole I would wait till at least day 7, 14 an 19. I only candle when I stop turning unless I just need room in the incubator. Turning is best done how ever you feel comfortable. As long as there all moved your good

they recommend candling at day 7 or 10 but i have candled at day 4 to check for veining. i am not a patient bator sitter. now on day 11 and will probably candle again tomorrow or wed. as far as turning, you can just put a block under one end of your carton and alternate it under the other side back and forth 3 times a day.

and I agree with rebel on temps.

Okay well then I will leave the temp be. Well I have something under one side of the carton for turning. I wish I could have found a tray, but maybe I will have my DH make me something.

Did you post a pic of youre bator , I remmber seeing a pic of youre eggs but not of youre bator did i miss it?
Im not shure what you mean you wish you had a tray?
I think those small fluctiations sound normal no need to adjust the temp I think.
I have heard people able to see things on day 3 so if you wanted to check an egg or two then Im shure it would be ok . I am reading on candleing right now and I am thinking when I get my bator and eggs I will candle all of the shipped ones on day 5 the non shipped ones on day 7 and depending on the results from those go from there. I will candle the shipped ones early just becuase I am very curious on wether or not they could survive being flown complety across the united sates.

Good luck with yorue babies and keep us informed and updated
