Prokta's Relationship Advice Column

That depends if you really are 24. It's not a good idea to be someone you're not on the internet.

Jeez, you people really DO think I'm old?!?!

The older you are, the wiser you are.

Em's older than me.. I've been 21 for almost 1.5 decades now..

I'm one of the youngest people on BYC, it seems like.
*grumbles*

I need some advice too.
How the heck do you guys all fit in so well with each other? Gee, I don't even fit in with weirdos now!

Relationships with fellow weirdos outside of the internet are becoming stale.
I've just found out many, many things I would love to do but can't until I'm 18. Have spent the past few months/years reading up and becoming smart for nothing, it seems.

You probably all think I'm about 12 now, too.

That paragraph came out wrong... oh, yeah, that's another thing I probably need to work on. I'm not easy to believe. People read my emotions wrong, they always wonder if I'm lying or not, they think I mean something I don't and think I'm lying when I tell them otherwise... it's plain frustrating!

I don't usually ask for advice. Let's see how this goes.

Dear Dr. Prokta:

My Son, “The Wrench God” is procrastinating on changing out the EGR valve of his Mothers SUV. His Mother is a “Wood Nymph” and not mechanical at all. Now his sister, the “Forensic Chemist” is very driven and attentive as needed---no problems there? So, my question is how to motivate a Demi-god into doing what comes natural to him, after all he has resurrected various mechanical vehicles from the gates of Rusty Oblivion into showroom specimens (all his own creations, however).

Thanks,
Darkmatter the all knowing, except for offspring motivations?

Darkmatter: Seeing as how your son is still under your roof, why not just give him a deadline? Do it by this time, otherwise you'll suffer from X, where X is a variable meaning a type of punishment.

Flare: You definitely aren't one of the youngest members. How exactly are friendships with people outside of the internet becoming stale? And what exactly makes them think you're lying a fair amount of the time? Is it a verbal tic, or a twitch or something?

Punishment does not work with Demi-gods, perhaps if I offer a case of "Mead". Obtaining the EGR part is not a problem since as far as the "Wrench God" is concerned, no costs to him, all things good come from the source of all creation---- darkmatter's wallet. Note: My offspring’s have always been offered carrots, not sticks. Idea, perhaps if I let him choose from darkmatter's "ambrosia" cabinet instead of the "Mead" bin, the Wrench God will be inspired.

Yes, bribing him with mead would be good, but it might inspire a "If you don't give me beer, I won't work" behavior.

We're doing the same things, really, mostly just that. I'm always second best, second choice, if you know what I mean

I don't fit in with older people, or younger people, or people my own age. Perhaps I should go find a civilisation of aliens on Mars to go live with.
