Prolapse ?...or vent gleet?... or something else...shes only 9 weeks old...can anyone help

that is something...actually there is almost no smell at all...and no yeast smell ...she smells like all the rest of them...no nothing as far as odd or bad smells

Good. Go with what I mentioned in post #12. Take a good look around the area of the pen where pullets are to make sure no decayed matter/molds exist which they might ingest. You're doing well be separating the pullet. Tell me you haven't introduced/keeping the pullets with older birds.

Casport is right. Do not give any epsom salt, acv, or anything other than what I mentioned in post #12. The buttermilk lightly moistening feed for a day or two will introduce probiotics back into the digestive tract, and soothe the intestines. Don't give antibiotics until two hours after letting the bird ingest buttermilk because it will interrupt absorption. The antibiotic is to prevent infection. All you did by giving those things was upset the digestive system. You need no scale unless you have extra money in your pocket. The bird's weight is irrelevant at this point. You'll know your bird is recovering as the swelling goes down, the bird has an appetite and drinks on its own, and the stools are normal. The course of action should be, if the bird seems alert, active, the swelling goes down, then stop the antibiotics and go with something like Sav-A-Chick powder in the water for two days.

If you have $20 that you can part with, get a scale, you won't regret it. If you don't have $20, get one on ebay for less. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Kitchen-Scales-/50419/i.html?_sop=15

FWIW, It's one of the best investments I've made.

I have a digital scale and it is not accurate. It has never been dropped or handled roughly either. The brand name is Taylor. I think If anyone wants accuracy in weight, they'd need to spring $100 or more for a triple beam scale.

thanks for the advice about getting a scale and i have been giving epson salt x3 days now (stopping)...i know she is losing weight...so...heading to wally world to get a scale...do you or anyone know what the average weight a wellsummer chick at 9 weeks should weigh ...or is there a link/site that gives weight verses age verses type of chicken that anyone knows of

Do you have other chicks the same size/age? 'Cause I haven't been able to find any site or charts that list ideal weights for young poultry, so that's why I weigh *everything* now.

What I do know is that at nine weeks of age, they are still growing and you should see daily gains on healthy chicks. Of course their weight will change throughout the day, so I've found weighing is most accurate when done at about the same time every morning when there crop is empty.

If you ever decide to raise peafowl, I can tell you how much they should weigh at hatch through 12 months, that I have documented, lol.

Hey, while you're at Wally, you might want to pick up some Pedialyte since the Epsom salts have probably really disrupted her electrolyte balance.
