Hi it's me with another freaking prolapse! This time with a Drake. This is way out of my comfort zone and to be honest I do not know when it actually happened. It was noticed on Saturday and my daughter and I have been treating it much the same way as we did with Helia --Shout out to the fantastic advice out here, it has helped considerably.
How long do I treat him for before I have to decide whether or not to make a cut? He's eating and pooping and preening. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. there is the lower part that does concern me. It's kind of, for lack of better description, oatmeal colored. That is not too concerning for me but there is a size difference and a swollen part about an inch and a half to two inches from the tip at the end to the rest of the phallus. It's a little blackish but that could be scabbing. I am treating it with a wash twice a day and now a sits bath to bring down the swelling. The strange part is that it all slides in except the part that may be scabby and the oatmeal colored end.
I'm probably over-thinking it. (Who me? Never! Sometimes? Ok, more often than not! Lol!) I'll admit I am a little neurotic when it comes to my birds.
So how long do I give it, when do I have to operate and no, I am sorry I have no pics at his time. I will try and get some help getting some but I am severely technically challenged.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
