For the past few weeks my silkie chick (7wks old) vent keeps prolapsing. Seems to happen about 50-75% of the time when she tries to poop. I spray it with some antimicrobial poultry care and sometimes a bit of olive oil and it slides back in but it continues to happen. Any ideas why or what else I could be doing??? Pics of before and after and the amount of poop she seems to be struggling to get out.

I'm so sorry this is happening. We lost a pullet earlier in the year to a prolapsed vent from being egg bound. Obviously, your girl is too young to be egg bound so I don't know what would be causing this. I've read where a prolapse can sometimes take weeks to recover. I think it's important to keep the area moist, as it sounds like you're doing.
We were not able to save our girl so I can't offer advice, just here to provide moral support. Someone with more experience will be able to offer help. Wishing you the best of luck.

Welcome To BYC

What are you feeding?

Does she seem to drink water o.k.?

Do you provide Chick Grit (Crushed Granite)?

I'd work on keeping her hydrated. You can give her a little coconut oil twice a day. Either stir some into her feed or give her a few small chunks to eat on her own. Provide some grit free choice too.
Hopefully she will get over this constipation.

I had a similar situation and got it resolved with a few weeks of highly salty baths

I do provide grit but I have never seen her eat it (doesn't mean that she doesn't just haven't witnessed it) her crop fully empties each day. I did offer her some coconut oil last week, I will do that again daily. And will "force" feed some extra water. Thanks for replying ☺️
