our 1 year old rose comb black bantam had a prolapsed vent the other day. I cleaned her up and "returned" it and she has been fine and laid eggs daily ever since. Has anybody else had that happen to their chicken? I was wondering if it could be a sign of other problems or diseases.

It will be okay if the chicken is not pushed to high protein feed
they generally never are able to produce eggs as fast as other hens
do you have pure bred rosecombs?
I raised them many yrs ago

I think she is purebred. We got her from a very nice kid at a farm show, and he shared an email last summer that our little black hen's daddy is the grand champion crower at last year's Illinois state fair! I could email him back and ask, but it doesnt matter to us. She is a very nice pet and she went broody on somebody elses eggs in January and hatched 2 new chicks, she is a very good little mother to these 2 giant chicks who tower over her but respect her! I think her breed makes a very good pet.
