I have a White Golden 300 hen (duck) that is prolapsed, and a Call Duck Drake (also white) that has his junk hanging out!

I have heard that you should use honey, sugar or Prep H to treat it, but what about an antibiotic for her them? (amoxicillin?)

Please help soon!

To further clarify, we put some honey on her....... and now we are waiting. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what antibiotic to use? Please hurry!

I wouldnt think that youd need an antibiotic. That is not a sterile environment. Rinse everything off, dust with some sugar and push it all back in--should work but might happen again. Terri O

Then if neosporin is safe for ducks I'd use that.

The standard treatment would be clean the area and reinsert it. It may take several tries also separate the ducks from the flock and each other.

If there is damage to the area then clean the area and use some antibiotic ointment. This is the case where infection may, but even then if just kept clean shouldn't, occur.

Just like a cut on your hands keep the wound clean and everything will be fine.

Remember thats neosporin without the pain relief medication.

You also might want to answer the question of why it happened to two flock members.

Sometimes prolapse has a dietary root cause.
