One of my new ameruacuana hens is prolapsed.

Her uterus is hanging out. There was an egg in it. My mom got the egg out and tried to push it back in, but it came back out. Any suggestions? I looked around and people suggested honey. I'm going to try this, but is there any thing else i can do? She's also got a very full crop (or croup i'm not sure how it's spelled). Just if that makes a difference... Any help is welcomed!!!

PS:
I'm gonna go take a pic of it, i just wanted to get this post up here as quick as possible!

Hi, I've been dealing with 2 prolapses at once. She needs to be in a separated area from the others and preferrably in a dark place. That will slow her egg making down in a day or two and help her heal. If you could send pictures, we'd know how bad it is. Let her bottom soak in warm water to clean her bum. i've been using honey mixed with antibiotic cream on her while gently pushing it back in. then I use witch hazel on a rag and leave on her for 5 minutes or so. Up her protein and calcium. I've been scramling eggs and mixing yogurt with it daily. My first hen has been inside for a week and a half. today she laid an xlg egg with no problem. the other has been in for 2 days. It may take a while to heal, unfortunatly some don't. Give it your best shot.

You may not want to feed a protein and calcium rich diet as these help producing eggs. Especially Xlg. They are what cause prolapse. In fact it would be better for her to not lay any eggs for awhile. Once a hen prolapses it is likely to become a problem again. I had a hen prolapse but didn't notice it for a few days and by then it was to late. She got infected and it was really bad. She had to be culled. You will want to watch these birds hereafter.

I got a pic on my phone, i will upload it onto my cp in a bit. Yesterday it seemed to be doing better. Today we cleaned it and it seemed to have gotten smaller but it's starting to get dry and hard. We cleaned it with Saline and put some anti-biotic cream on it. She's living in a dog crate in a pretty dark area. My mom's tried to push it back in a couple times, but she pushes it back out. Any and all help is seriously appriciated!
