Hi everyone. I have a nice little Serama Roo who I was just going to rehome because of too many roos here:D, but this week he has turned up with a vent prolapse. It seemed like it was due to some poo getting stuck and building up, so I cleaned him up, cut back all feathers round the vent and have been keeping him in a cage. The prolapse is still out but he is pooing regular poos and is free ranging with the others during the day...cleaning up and staying in the cage at night so he wont get chips all stuck on it. He has been having antibiotics in his water this week and...seems to be doing OK. But the prolapse is not retracting. I have been reading here about this in hens and I will get some prep H and try that....Im wondering if this is something that you guys have seen in Roos and what the prognosis is if the icky redness keeps hanging out.
He is a good little boy...really beautiful and fierce...er...sweet to his mom, at least!...but a little loud. he doesnt seem to be in pain or distress...just a little subdued and roosting more than usual.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Melina
