My 10mo old White Leghorn had/has a prolapsed vent. She was fine at 2:00pm when I gathered some eggs. I went out about an hour later too see if there were any more (I have some younger ones starting to lay), and she was bearing down like she was trying to poop. I noticed the prolapse. I quickly wet down her back end and cleaned the bit of poop that was there, then put some hydrocortisone cream on it and pushed it back in. It took 2 gentle pushes but stayed. She seems to be eating and drinking and behaving normally. My questions are, should I leave her be and wait to see what happens, or should I give her a soak/bath? I have Vetericyn, should I spray her vent? Vent looks pretty normal, possibly a bit pink/irritated, but nothing notable. She did dust bath with a damp bottom after the incident. Thank in advance for any advice.
