My other chicks vents are clear and look normal. This was the first chick to hatch and pulled itself rather forcefully from the egg. What can I do? It's still in the incubator drying off while the others hatch. Should I remove it somehow? Leave it in? Separate it after the others go to the brooder? Help 😭

For now, just watch the chick, but if the vent continues to hang out, put a dab of cortisone cream on it. This will reduce swelling and perhaps allow it to retract.

Is it the vent for sure or is it a little unabsorbed yolk left? Watch for the others they will most likely peck at it and you made need to separate it until it heals up.

I had a chick that unfortunately passed away as the other chicks wouldn't stop pecking at the red area causing it to bleed out. :(

My recommendation, isolate immediately.
