I assume this is a prolapse vent... never had to deal with one before now thankfully. The quail in question is about 2mos old and started laying about a week or so ago. She didn't have the prolapse when I went to check on her, but after I picked her up to check her feet I put her back, this thing was hanging down her backside. A few minutes later I check her again and it's gone! She's acting normal, eating, drinking and scratching away. Is there anything I should look out for? And is it normal for a prolapse to heal itself?

Just checked on her again and she laid an egg. Is it normal for prolapse to correct itself this quickly?
Did your quail continue to have this issue after this post?
I have a quail sized hen that has been having loose stool, laid a good egg yesterday but had some prolapse issue afterwards, not sure if this was a fluke or ongoing problem.

Not a lot of experience, but the one time I dealt with this, it did seem to self-correct. I still had my hen separated to rest for a day or two, but I never saw the issue again. If I hadn't seen it for sure, I might have missed it, or thought it was my imagination.

Thankfully, she hasn't had any problems since!
