to preface, i'm not very experienced with chicken anatomy.

yesterday i noticed one of my hens had a broken soft shell egg stuck in her vent, she tried to push it out every couple minutes but it wouldn't dislodge. i wrapped her in a towel & gently pulled it out with a paper towel. i noticed a tiny spot of blood on the shell, and when i checked her vent there was a large, fleshy, red protrusion. not knowing what it was i gently prodded it with the tissue. it retracted into her body & (what i believe was) her oviduct became visible & started contracting. her vent looks normal when walking around, but is it possible it has prolapsed?

she hasn't had any behavioral signs of illness (lethargy, confusion, weird stance, self pecking, normal appetite etc) but she has layed a few soft shelled eggs.

thanks for any advice :)
