Prolapsing Hen?????-- HELP PLEASE!!

Does any one have any idea what is wrong with my hen?? Help please!!



Hello everyone, this is the first time I have every had / been around chickens, so please excuse me if I don't use the right terms. What I have is a 25 week old white cochins hen that is very dirty and wet looking around the vent area. When I finally got a good look at her I saw green looking poo in the feathers and her vent was going in and out 1/4" to 1/2" with every breath. I read in the book about egg binding so I did check for that and I could not feel an egg. I don't think she has prolapsed but not sure if it's the beging stages of it. I did notice yesterday that around her eyes and her comb are a real dark red. Way darker than normal. I am pretty sure that she has been laying. I have 27 hens so it's hard to tell. I only have 2 cochins and I have seen then in the nest boxes every day. I usually gather eggs 3-4 times a day. I am feeding layer feed and they have been getting lots and lots of garden treats this summer. So if any one has any idea what is wrong please let me know.

Not exactly sure, but wash the vent area to get the poo off it. See if it gets better.

Do a search on this forum. I've replied to several people about my experience with a prolapsed vent. Do it soon so you can take care of it asap.
