Prolonged Corid treatment.. what should i do?

I have 12 chicks who have been on Corid for about 8 days now are still having dark, bloody colored diarrhea so I'm still treating them with it for coccidiosis.. the treatment was only supposed to last 5 days so i'm not sure if I should keep them on it or not until the bloody diarrhea stops.. should i stop the treatment and give them a week or so off of it, then retreat them or just continue it until the bloody diarrhea stops?

I am using the liquid Corid giving 1/2 TSP per quart watering dish

That's the correct dosage for a severe outbreak, so that's good. It can take time to see improvement. The recommended dosing for severe outbreaks is to give the Corid at the rate you have been giving it for three to five days, then switch to 1/2 teaspoon a gallon (so .125 teaspoon to a quart) for a following 7 to 14 days.

So I would switch now to the lower dosage. Aside from the bloody stool, have you seen improvement in their symptoms?

Honestly the bloody stool was really the only symptom I noticed. They do act a little more spunky now though and will run around their brooder sometimes. I will switch their dose in the morning to 1/4 tsp per quart

How are your chicks doing? I have 1-2 week old chicks and I am trying to decide if I should add Corid to their water. I had one pass on me two days ago, and now I have two more who are looking a little weak. I haven't noticed bloody stool. I have been checking their temperature and making sure their brooder plate is at 95 degrees in the back and cooler in the front. So I feel like temp isn't to blame. The other chicks are happy and active. I don't want to treat unnecessarily, but I also don't want to wait too long.
