Good Evening to all foul enthusiasts....

I am currently incubating Greylag eggs. I started with 10 eggs, of which 4 have successfully hatched and are now 7 - 9 days old (having hatched between days 27 -29). The 5th egg died at the last stage of hatching.
My question is with the remaining 5 eggs. I have been patiently sitting with a stethoscope listening to the eggs and I am certain that I can hear pecking from within. Today is the 36th day in the incubator and I remain hopeful as I have read of goslings hatching on the 37th day.

Can anyone advise!!!!!!!!

Any information and/or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Graham

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the hatch! As for the remaining eggs, I have never hatched geese before. So you might want to post this question in or Geese section for those goose experts...

Good luck with the rest of the hatch and welcome to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Good luck with the hatch, TwoCrows gave you the link for the Goose section.

Graham, welcome to BYC. Good luck with those eggs. Is there any reason that the incubation period on them should be extended?

The only reason I cn give is that we hd a power cut on the 19th day for about 6 -7 hrs. However, I am uncertain if this could be cause as the other eggs hatched mor or less on time.

First Time goose egg hatcher.

Well, that is good to know because two of mine (second batch) are at day 28 and they look like they are at day 18. I just have the first two (first batch) hatch fine so the incubate is working fine, because they were right on time at day 29, so was a bit concerned with these two (second batch) as they are lagging behind. I candled them and they are still moving, just not very dark on one side.
