Hi, I need help for my chick.

1. Her left leg is unbalance (bent leg, foot position to median axis), in bad shape due to she always used this only leg since birth.
2. Her right leg needs prosthetic leg, which I trying to make one at the moment (as in pictures), She has a tiny bone and a tiny finger which is hard to make a prosthetic leg. Her Tarsometatarsus and Digits are gone. (And i really don't know will she able to walk or not, or this prosthetic leg can only help her to able to stand still)

Q1: Any advice to help rehab the left leg?
Q2: Any idea on prosthetic leg? I don't know the thing I did is gonna work well. It's sloppy and this chick HATES it. 😅 always shaking it off.

Thank you so much guys !

with chicks loves,

Cherry

I have to tell you, this is amazing. I have never seen a prosthetic leg on such a small creature. It looks pretty good!
I don’t know if a bird can learn to walk with a prosthetic leg but it’s worth a try.
She would need “rehab” just as a human does to learn to walk on a prosthesis, and I personally have no knowledge of proper rehab techniques for a bird.
I hope someone responds who might know.

Wow! I really have no idea if she will be able to walk again, but @Fireside Acres may be able to help with rehab. Have you taken her out of the sling so maybe she can try to stand? This is very interesting, @Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock what do you think?

Hi, Thank you for your replied.

Nowadays she's not used to her new leg (yet), which I'm trying to put more and more hours of prosthetic leg with her (currently 2 hours everyday) and no, She's still cannot stand with the prosthetic leg alone, need the sling to help to be able to stand.

xD

I'm trying to massage her legs everyday, about 5 mins*2 times. (due to my work hours, I cannot stay with her all day. fml :/ )

How did you make the prosthetic? 3D printer? I wish you the best of luck! This looks like a congenital deformity?
Yes, I made it from 3D printer, with tpu flexible materials with parts and screws. (but the cons is these joints aren't strong enough when chick get fatter (if). Need fix in future :D

I think you could easily market 3D chicken prosthetics. I don't know that you could make a living off of it, but if you can fine tune your prosthetics to really work, there will be people who will buy, I'm sure of it.

Well, in the future you will need a bigger prosthetic length-wise as well. Maybe at that point you can make the joints sturdier.
