Protecting a wood floor?

I’m hoping to apply Black Jack 57 tomorrow in my coop. For those experienced how do you think it’ll dry with this forecast?

My weather was, 50% - 60% humidity and 60 - 70 temps. I did 2 lighter coats instead of 1 heavy coat. I re-coated after 24 hrs. I let it cure 7 days and it was good. You might be good before 14 days, only time will tell though. I turned my 5 gallon can upside down the day before, so it would mix a little easier. I used a piece of 5/4 board to stir it, it took about 15 minutes. One hand high and one hand low.

Cure Time (50% Relative Humidity, 70˚F) 4-8 hours
Full Cure (50% Relative Humidity, 70˚F) 7-14 days

I think the rule of thumb for ventilation is 1 sq. ft. per bird. Windows are great in the summer, but in winter you’ll want ventilation that’s up higher than the roosts, so it doesn’t create a draft on the chickens. I’m sure there are articles and threads about this.

Nice coop there but do not put a floor in mine love being inside on bad days doing dust baths two of my three do not have floors had talked my BF about setting the other down taking the floor out

So it has to fully cure before I can put sand down right?
Errrrr I was really really hoping to get the chicks out there by Friday. I thought I saw somewhere it was ready next day. Should have known that was too good to be true.

I'll second the porch and floor paint. Tons easier to put down, lots cheaper than BJ57, holds up very well, and you won't have to wait more than 24 hours after putting it down to use it.

That def appeals. How does it stand up to sand bedding, raking hosing out?

Apoxie paint is the best! You can wash it, scrape it, and do whatever. The poop doesn’t stick either. It’s like have a non stick coop. Lol. But the vinyl paint chips give the floor good grip. The paint also looks great! I have a new 10x14 storage shed coming tomorrow that will be converted into a chicken coop. I will be apoxie painting the whole inside.

The vinyl coated hardware cloth seems odd, and secured on the inside. It would do its job better, were it on the outside. It does look nice.

I use pine shavings in my coop so not sure about sand or rakes.
I clean it out using a big plastic feed scoop and a broom. The scoop is run across it to scoop the shavings/poop and nothing has peeled or lifted or chipped in 5+ years.

I would think since it is porch paint it should withstand hosing.
