Protecting chicks

I do it with a good amount of protections. I have also done it with almost no protections. Latter was higher risk with some lost on occasion. To control losses one the cheap, chicks were released only for short periods of time with me present. They were enticed to stay near cover (thick bushes and brambles) using feeder and waterer. The same areas is where I did yard work. There were times when no predator issues, and other times I had to watch for fox or Coopers Hawk where both can be regular if you do not watch out.
