Protection against hawks

Our two month old chickens just went into their new chicken coop today, and they're having a blast with the extra space. It's about 9 X 12 foot with the wire going up about 7 feet and a chicken house which is currently in the middle until we can get it put up on the posts we have in the corner. There are some pretty thick trees overhead, but a few places where there's not a lot of cover. I'm concerned because there is a pair of redtail hawks in our area, and I don't want them getting my chickens. We thought about putting a tarp over the top of the pen. Is there something better we could do that won't cost a fortune? (I wanted to just put chicken wire over the top too, but it's cost prohibitive right now.)

Thanks,

Lisa
