Just had to share this. Pekin drakes get a lot of slack - sure they can be aggressive and rapists lol - but look at this darling standing guard over his girls today while they forage. You can only see one of the girls - the others are in the bushes. He’s done this all week. Wherever the girls roam, he stands about 5 feet away ‘on guard’. My little sweetheart

Reminds me of my first time hatching ducklings with a broody duck this year!
The drake would sit right beside her on the nest all day
As if he was broody too!

I have never had an aggressive Drake with Hens. Your right, people assume they all are bad. I keep one per breeding groups. I have zero problems.

That picture is so sweet. It’s nice he protects them while they eat. I notice my drake does this also, he watches the land and air for predators. And is the first one to sound the alarm.
