Both my ducks and hens are pecking feathers from each other to eat. I've read that this is a protein deficiency. What is the best way to increase their protein?

Insects are a fantastic source of protein and part of their natural diet. Mealworms, crickets…. roaches. Any good pet supplies store should stock them dried or live.

Cooked eggs are good and safe too.

Some meat scraps, but watch out for salty and seasoned meats, plain is best.

Feather picking and eating can sometimes also be a sign of boredom or overcrowding. Are your birds free ranging, or do they have a nice size run?
