Protein supplement for poults

Can they eat raw animal protein? Or does it need to be cooked? I have a freezer full of wild pork that my wife isn't a fan of the gamey flavor.

I would be hella worried about roundworm and whipworm from raw pork. Especially wild pork.... Some parasites are host specific, but I know humans can get worms from pork, so I assume chickens may as well. Toss it on the BBQ grill for a while and then give it to the chickens.

Yeah. Chickens will eat anything that doesn't eat them first. They may not recognize it as feed at first so you may have to withhold what they're familiar with for a day or 2 and make them hungry. That's what I had to do with the catfish chow.

If they are just hatched poults the most important challenge is teaching and getting them to eat first otherwise they will die. Get some 22% game bird starter and concentrate on getting them to eat that and drink water. I wouldn't worry about supplements for the first month. Some people use turkey tutors. A few chicks in the brooder with the turkeys to teach them to eat.

Mine free range so what i feed them is only about half of what they eat. The poults are new and will spend their life confined unfortunately. They might go of and decide to not come back and most of them are paid for already. But they will be moved regularly and I'm going to have an electric fence around them.
