protruding crop!

how long will a chicks crop proturde?
i fed my chicks rice tonight (cooked) as i usually do for a treat. they did have more than normal and some of them have HUGE crops.
do i do anything?
how long will it last?

It always looks alarming when chicks' crops bulge out like that. They should be deflated & soft in the morning.
