morning. So this baby hatched this morning. I am a first time hatcher. My first egg hatched during the night two nights ago just fine. This poor baby though looks as to have a protruding vent...anything i can do to help it? Chick is walking around inside incubator and chirping. Thanks in advance.

It's been close to a couple of hours since you posted, how is the chick now?
Chick is still walking around and chirping. She is not quite dry enough for me to want to take her out. She seems to be doing the same thing that the other chick, who hatched yesterday, is doing. walking around, chirping and sleeping. nothing has changed. The chick seemed to have pooped while in the egg or while trying to get out of the egg. I am having the hubby bring home some Prep H and witch hazel as some of the other threads with this said that might work. I am wondering though, do I try to push the vent back in or just leave it out and put on the Prep H??? My heart is breaking for this little one.

That likely is not the vent. It's probably an unhealed navel, I would leave it alone and see if she absorbs that. I would not push it in.
Let her dry. If it has not contracted by then I would put her in a paper towel lined shallow cup and put her back in the incubator. You can put some plain neosporin or bacitracin on the navel. You don't want her dragging that across the incubator floor which probably has bacteria and debris from other hatching eggs.
Hopefully it will heal soon.

would taking her out of the incubator to take some photos and putting her back in harm her? I don't want to chill her but I want to figure out what is truly happening so I can help her out.
Photos would be good.
Sorry, I would not put her in the brooder if there are other chicks in there - they can pick at that protrusion and damage it. I would put her back into the incubator isolated for a while to see if it gets better.
