Providing water during extremely cold winter

My geese do not mind sunbathing in snow if the temps are warm.  Otherwise, they pack down a trail from food/bedding area to stream and rarely venture off path.  But, on really cold days, their feet freeze so bad that they walk a few steps, stand with one leg tucked for a minute, walk a few steps, stand with other leg tucked, until back to their shelter with warm bedding.  Poor things.

Aww :( My dogs do that. My chickens/ducks never ventured out during cold temps last year.

I'll keep water close enough. Maybe 10 ft max. I just don't want to make the bedding wet again.

I can't remember exactly but I am pretty sure the 'hog' part is short for 'hogged' which is a term for the process of grinding/shredding. Don't hold me to that though, my memory isn't what it used to be.

Yeah, it's something like that. I think the machine that chops it up is called a hog. I wouldn't really call it bark, though. It's more like wood chips - at least the hog fuel I've seen. I've only seen it used in horse pens and arenas, but it's not like the bark you see used for landscaping.

I give my geese swiming water during the winter, they acctalu enjoy breaking the ice, eating it and then swiming. They cant sense the cold, they have too many feathers to sense the cold.

Then why would they hold their feet up because of the cold? :idunno

I've seen my ducks do the flamingo look. I can't see why geese would be much different.

I think they'er like us, theres cold and then theres "why am I outside!" cold

Their cold starts at much cooler temps then our due also. No down lined boots for thier feet either... poor things.

lol aoxa thats why we have in ground pools and two ac units on the house. Even our brooder house has a window ac unit for the extreme heat
I can't handle heat. It makes me mean. Like godzilla mean Lol.

I also hate the cold, but I'm much nicer when I'm cold.

It is going down to 23 tonight. :| Not sure how to feel about this. Our days were in the 70s earlier this week. So not fair.
