The huge patches of permafrost have melted (mostly) and left a sizable pond in the backyard.
The ladies have enjoyed pond living very much this week.
It has been unseasonably warm. Tomorrow is supposed to approach 80!
In March. In Maine.
Tonight, as I finished gathering feeders & waterers to fill before bedtime I noticed some visitors to puddle pond.
A wild Mallard & his lovely lady.
They must be young. They let me get very close.
I wish they were better photos for you. They are stunning.
It was sunset when I finally left them alone.
I am hopeful they will be there in the morning.
My gals are hopeful they will NOT be there in the morning. They ran & cowered behind the duck house after they saw the other ducks floating on their pond.
