Hi all

I have a chicken that is puffed up so she has no neck, is bleeding a lot when she lays.

She’s eating, drinking, laying daily and has no prolapse, gleet but is just hunched up in the corner and bleeding from her backside.

I’ve separated her from the flock for now.

Any ideas?

How old is she? Do you see any evidence of vent pecking or damage? Pictures of her eggs and vent can help. Could she have eaten something sharp? Are her bloody eggs normal? Coccidiosis, worms, cancer, and fatty liver disease could be possible causes. Vent pecking can be a problem with some more aggressive breeds, or when there is not enough room.

She’s 2. Vent looks normal. Pale pink, no discharge. Eggs are normal although shells have been a bit weak. Have oyster shells and restore-o-shell in water to assist with that. She’s a light Sussex. Wormed 2 months ago with flubivet. Some droppings to have little white eggs in so perhaps they need another round of wormer.

Thanks for that. I’ll see if worming could help.
