She is off the nest, however another broody hen has started sitting on the remainder of the eggs. More and more eggs kept appearing under the original hen, so the hatch dates will be different for some of the chicks unfortunately!

My ignorance... very pretty birds either way.
I looked them up on wiki. Interesting reading about how they almost become extinct in the 70's until a private flock of 4 birds were found. Wiki says as of last year they are still an 'at risk' breed.

Thank you to everyone who has posted a response! Momma and baby are doing great! And yes, it seems like normal protective behavior
