Puffy hen

One of my hens is puffy, just like a broody, but she is roosting. I'm confused. Is there another reason she might be puffing up? I tried to do a quick check on her, she doesn't seem to have any health issues. Only thing I noticed was that she has a bit of a poopy butt. All of my hens seem to have gotten a poopy butt lately though.

She may be just getting started being broody. I have one that does that a few days before really starting to sit.

We don't have any roos, so maybe she's starting to get broody. I would LOVE that!! There are several types of eggs up for auction I have been drooling over!!!

Is she hot and trying to cool down? My chickens are about 15 weeks and they do that on their outside roosts to cool off.

Is she puffy b/c her feathers are up? Chickens usually put their wings away from their sides to keep cool.

Sometimes puffing can be a dominance thing too.

She is definitely BROODY!!!

She was sitting in the nesting box all day all poofed up!! Woohoo!!!
