Hey everyone. I have a pullet that is ten weeks old, and she seems to be acting oddly. She is more lethargic than the others and has been laying down a lot. Right now we are in a transition period so I carry all the young ones to and from the barn, where they stay in a large dog kennel for safety over night, and then during the day they go in a big run outside. The ground all around that side of the barn is mostly gravel, but I’ve been putting a ton of hay on it so they have a bunch of soft bedding, and I’ll be moving them next to my main flock, and on more grass soon. I was hoping to today, but this pullet is not right. She lays a lot, and sits back on her hocks, not how chickens normally sit up. And when she stands this morning I noticed she quivered a bit. She gets picked on now and they trample her when she lays down but she doesn’t do much but squawk. I’m very confused though because I’ll put her outside and she’ll run around and peck and chirp at little things on the ground and eat and drink normally. I’ve checked her all over and cannot find anything wrong with her. Her vent is clear and clean, legs seem to be perfectly healthy. She does feel a tad bit honey but I’m worndering if that’s just part of what’s going on with her. I don’t get it. I have her some nutridrench last night to try to boost her. She seems to do worse overnight. I’m the morning all the babies are usually raring to go but she’ll just lay in the corner while the others come to me for outside time. When I get everyone else out she’ll stand up and look around slowly but she’s not normal. Today I’ve decided to seperate her to keep her from getting picked on right now. She’s in the overnight kennel alone but I pulled it over so she can see the others outside. I just don’t know how to help her. Anyone have any ideas?

Some more quick information: she’s an Easter egger and this batch seems to have some issues such as beaks not being fully closed and twisted toes etc. I’ve never had EEs till now so this has been kinda sad for my first time but maybe it’s just like a poorly bred batch? Also side note on the picture, yes I see there is a piece of twine pulled in there and that is my fault for having it too close, and I moved it immediately, but it was not wrapped around her or anything, it was just sitting beside her. And the picture of poop is just one I found in there, no guarantee that it’s from her, but just making sure it looks normal.

You think maybe coccadoccia?

I’m not totally sure. Oh and I meant to mention she’s been off for like maybe a week and a half now, but I’ve just been trying to boost her with some vitamins and such since she’s been acting almost fine during the day, but it’s gotten a bit worse now. And I haven’t seen any blood in poop

Will she eat some moistened feed and egg, plus drink water if you take her aside and separate her? It is important to know if she is weak from coccidiosis or if she has a vitamin or mineral deficiency. If she has been weak and sleepy she also may just be starving.I would try to get her eating, and give her 1/2 of a B complex tablet crushed into a spoonful of water, given to her daily. A riboflavin (b2) deficiency can cause one to sit on hocks and have curled under toes. If you instead treat for coccidiosis with Corid, she should not be taking b complex, because it contains thiamine (Corid works best without giving thiamine.) Signs of coccidiosis are weakness, runny poops with mucus or sometimes blood, standing around hunched and puffed up, and no appetite.

She’s been eating and drinking, maybe not as much as the others but she has been. Ok what type of b complex should I get? I have the injectable liquid that’s usually for cows that I give my ducks orally but it’s a few years old now and been in the barn. I’ll give her an egg now.

Yesterday she was scared of the egg and wouldn’t eat it even when I mashed it in some of her crumbles, but she has been eating her crumbles normally and had been eating some grass. The poop are all hers that were in her overnight kennel. They look pretty normal to me I think?
