Pullet attacked by a hawk, resulting wing injury....

Well, here we go again! Saved my Partridge Silkie from attempted murder by hawk this evening. :duc Aside from a bloodied earlobe, she's suffering from a punctured air sac just like Mouse. Lots of gurgling, and an unpleasant "innards" odor. Problem is, Fuzzy Wuzzy is just that....fuzzy. It's nearly impossible to locate the wound as a result. Fingers crossed as discovery's made in the morning! :fl

Oh No! I'm so sorry :hugs
Can you try to find the wound and trim the feathers away from it? Do you have a helper?

That is too bad. So sorry this happened again, but I hope that you can save her. Let us know how bad the wound is.

I think you may need to make your coop and run larger if possible, and keep them locked in for awhile to keep them safe from hawks. I cannot remmember how old your chickens are, and if most are small or large breeds, but bantams and young chickens are prime targets for hawks. I live surrounded by woods behind and beside my coop, and hawks are around for most of the time. I have lost a few chickens over the years, but most were bantams or very young.
