Last night I went to the brooder coop to clean it and found a pullet lying down unable to lift her head. We have no clue what happened. She can lift it a little then it sags again. It will also twitches like she is grooming but she isn’t She is being syringe fed Powerade with finely ground chick starter and takes it well. Any insight would be appreciated. I don’t know if she strained something or got stuck. But the brooder hutch is fairly simple so it would be hard for her to get injured. I made a video but it’s too long. Well I can’t put a video up. Even one second said it’s too long. Also, we have our babies on non-medicated starter as the new geese can't eat medicated. We have never seen a problem like this before and we were beginning to regret letting them be on non-medicated food. They are all about 12 weeks old, no problems with any of them to this point just the one girl and she is Polish hen with the fancy head feathers. We hate to lose her she is so pretty.. THANKS.

Is sounds like she has a vitamin deficiency. I had the same problem with my young chick. You can order this online or maybe your local farm stores might have this. It will help.

Hi!
THANKS!! Did your chick make it?? We’ll will get some right away. She seemed a bit stronger today. Maybe the Gatorade helped.

Thanks so much.

Directions for Use:For best results, use for 3 to 5 days in a row and repeat as needed. Mix 1/4 teaspoon per gallon or mix 1 ounce in 16 gallons of drinking water daily. Hope they get better soon! If you need any more help you can just start a conversation with me anytime. I am glad to help.

How old is the pullet? It sounds like she is having neurological symptoms that include wry neck. That could be a sign of a head injury, a vitamin E or B1 thiamine deficiency, heredity, and sometimes seen in certain diseases, such as Mareks disease in chickens older than 5 weeks. I would give her the vitamins and a little cooked egg daily for selenium. Wet chicken feed or dry, whatever she takes well, and make sure that she gets enough throughout the day.

Yes she did make it and you can use Gatorade until you are able to get the rooster booster. It acts like the same thing but the rooster booster is the best.
I’m so glad she made it. Our pullet is eating when we shovel it into her mouth and she takes the Gatorade. How long did it take till your bird recovered??

We only feed her three times a day as we work. This is also the first time we’ve ever had our pullers on non-medicated feed but the rest of the flock is doing great they’re thriving!!
Thanks for all the tips.

Non-medicated feed is fine. It has all the vitamins and minerals she needs, but the extra E and B1 thiamine may help her neurological symptoms. I would give them for at least a couple of weeks to see if there is improvement.
