I have a RIR pullet who just the other day started to walk strange. She somewhat hobbles at times, gets around okay, and is eating and drinking. Today she was out on the grass and she would tumble over like she was drunk and is just acting weird. None of the others she is raised with are having any problems. I have checked here feet and can't see or tell if something is wrong there. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Carl,

If I had to guess, I'd say it's Mareks disease.

When I order some vaccine, I may have you bring your birds over and we'll do yours at the same time.

Thanks Mahonri, that would be great and is very kind of you.

If it indeed is Mareks, do I need to cull this one now before it gets worse?

I had very similar symptoms to yours in my chick (See Can chickens have fits post)
I isolated the chick in a pen with a heat lamp, as a higher temperature seemed to help, and have been feeding him mushed layers pellets and yoghurt, and it seems to have done the trick. This morning he has no funny stance or gait, and is bright eyed again. He was 1 of 5, and the other 4 touch wood have not displayed similar symptoms so far.

Good luck
