I NEVER thought I'd be doing this to a chicken. I work as a vet tech and have done other yucky stuff. (Now I'm teaching my vet about chickens) Yeah, it is funny when you think about it. It's ok to laugh...

Okay, not wanting to sound gross, but when you give a human a mineral oil enema for an impaction, it takes a while for the "egg" to get to the point of hitting the mineral oil and sliding toward the "vent". If the bird lays another egg tomorrow or the next day, will it stick as well until it hits the mineral oil, and if so, would it hurt to re-lube the vent area (of the bird) before she lays again to ensure the egg doesn't stick, or should it be okay?
 
good question,,,speckled hen may get back on here and answer for you. she is a wiz at chicken knowledge. I just checked on vivian. she is resting quietly--nothing happening, but it may be to soon. I'll go back out in the am.
