My 10 week old Barred Rock pullet doesn’t sound right. Seems kinda young for her voice to change. Her eyes and sinuses are not runny. No sneezing. No new birds except the ever present wild doves. She seems happy and healthy. Eating, drinking, pooping, and lap sitting are all normal. Coop is clean and well ventilated. She just sounds awful! Like me when I get sick/laryngitis. Sounds like Froggy (if you are old enough to remember him.). I would swear there is a goose in the chicken run.

Just want to make sure she isn’t sick and could pass it to the others. What else should I check? Or look for? I could share a video if that would help.

1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Barred Plymouth Rock, pullet, 10 weeks, weight seems normal
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
All her vocalizations are deep toned and gravelly. Hoarse. Honking
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
3 days
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
None
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
None
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Nothing I know of but we have lots of native wild doves. Maybe
they brought a virus?
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Nutrena Chick starter/grower, scratch, drinking water normally
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
poop looks normal
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
No treatment so far. Might be voice changing?
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
Whatever needs doing. Vet is 5 hours away but will travel if necessary. Also, I am a Biologist as well as a licensed and certified Wildlife Rehabilitator so capable of doing many medical processes and procedures
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
I can post a video if wanted
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Coop: Pine shavings on the floor. PDZ on poop boards.
Run: soil, gravel, grass, weeds, large dead tree limbs, boulders

A video might help. It could very well be the voice changing. Another possibility is stridor, which is a partial obstruction of the airway, often by a bit of feed or something stuck, which usually clears up on it's own, but if it's been three days that seems less likely. If it's stridor that can also be from swelling or mucous from a respiratory infection. But at 10 weeks I would want to rule out a simple voice change, which can sound pretty raspy and honking too.

Thank you for responding!!!!
I looked in her mouth and didn’t see anything except what should be there. Then spent two hours trying to get her to honk for the camera (with her and her two sisters in my lap). Finally realized she was peeping like normal. Thought it was the other two peeping. Neighbor saw me listening to her chest with my infant stethoscope but didn’t say a word. 🤪 So I guess whatever it was has passed. Will know more at bedtime during all the chatter. She sure acts normal and healthy. Even giving the 7-8 week olds the occasional “bonk” on the head when they are unruly.
