Unfortunately, a fox managed to nab some of my juvenile birds last night but I found my little olive egger pullet laying on the ground some distance from the coop. She was obviously in distress and unable to walk. After checking her out and letting her rest in a dark quiet place, it would appear that her right leg or hip is the issue. She is eating and drinking. No obvious breaks, but she cannot stand up or control the leg or foot. Comb is pale but getting better today. I devised a “sling” for her in a small crate to allow her to stand supported on one leg for short periods of time. Worried that if I just allow her to lay on her side, she won’t bother to try to use either leg and the left will atrophy. She can actually sleep comfortably in the sling and isn’t panicking or distressed. Not sure if that is good or bad. I’ve dosed her with electrolytes, some nutridrench and probiotics, but not sure what else to do for her. Any ideas?
