pullet is keeping one eye closed

i noticed yesterday. she acts like it hurts to keep it open. she will open briefly. there isn't any reddness. the pupil looks normal. no drainage. i'm thinking she may have gotten it scratched or poked.
when do i need to intervene w/medication & what kind would i be looking for?
