Pullet - Just doing So-So - what to do?

ok, thanks. Question - when I tube feed her, I think it's really stressing her. I do it pretty quick, but afterwards she is weak like and breathing thru mouth. I feel the food in her crop tho.

she does get over that breathing thru her mouth though, maybe 10 minutes of it or so.

Fenbendazole (brand name Safe-Guard) is a very good dewormer that kills the majority of worms, & is a lot cheaper than Valbazen & more commonly available. You can also deworm your cats & dogs with it (It's actually a more powerful wormer than other kinds that are often given by vets). The cheapest-per-dose way to buy it in an easy-to-measure form is to buy a small bottle of Safe-Guard Goat Dewormer. Though you could buy a dog or cat version if you want an even smaller amount.

Treating Chickens
*Dose amount has wide margin of safety for most poultry. May be risky for pigeons & doves, especially in repeated or strong doses.
*Do NOT dose the same as non-bird species!

For best effect, give at same time as feeding.
May cause stunted feathers if used during molt.
Dose of Safeguard 10% liquid:
Nematodes--0.7 cc (mL) orally, or 1 1/2 TB per gal. drinking water. Repeat once after 10 days.
Giardiasis--1.2 cc (mL) orally, or 2 1/3 TB per gal. drinking water. Repeat 3 days.
*If mix in drinking water, tends to settle at bottom of bowl. Stir frequently.

Treating Cats
Fenbenzadole (trade name Safeguard or Panacur) is used to treat roundworms (These worms can pass on through mother's milk), hookworms, whipworms, and Taenia tapeworms (It's 1 of the 4 types of tapeworms, & isn't the common kind spread by fleas). Can also help treat for flukes, lungworms, giardiasis & coccidiosis.
Dose: 0.2 cc's or ml's per pound of body weight, or about 1 cc or ml per 5 lbs dogs/cats/horses
Safe for all ages, though kittens under 6 months should have half the dose of adult cats. I think that's half the dose per pound, but it might be half the total dose??
Not officially labeled for cats, but has been used extensively for them safely. Dosing is at same rates as for dogs.
Cheapest source is Safeguard 10% liquid goat dewormer, ~$20 for 100 ml.
You can get 1 to 5 ml syringes for 25 cents at a pharmacy

Sick birds will often do this, just make sure that none of the formula comes back up.
