Just discovered one of my 14 girls seems to be sick. She is making a raspy, dry, wheezing noise similar to asthma wheezing in humans. No nasal discharge. She holds her beak open partly. I opened her beak and looked into her throat as far as I could. I saw no obvious obstruction, but there were a few flecks of dirt or something visible in her mouth and throat. I felt around her neck and crop, no palpable obstruction there either, although she didn't like me touching her neck.
The sound she makes is quite audible. She is the only one making it. I did not note anything out of sorts yesterday. They haven't been outside the coop and run to free-range for two days, so if it is not a disease, then it would have to be something she got into in there.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I am going to isolate her for now until I can rule out some sort of respiratory disease. Is there anything else I should be doing for her?
