Pullet not doing well

Not sure if I'm a terrible chicken keeper or just have bad luck, but here goes... pullet is 22 weeks old, always been healthy and beautiful Midnight Majesty Maran. She laid her first egg 15 days ago, and yes I am quite certain. I have a camera in the coop, and all of my girls have eggs I can tell apart. They do not free range, so no chance of hidden nest. About 10 days ago maybe I did see a soft shell egg in the coop, but it was laid in a blind spot on the camera, so I'm not sure if it was her or another new layer. Today she has been very lethargic with a puffed up look. Her vent was dirty for a second time recently, so I've washed her again and checked for parasites. No sign of mites or lice, thankfully no fly strike. The vent does not look swollen, but her belly seems distended, and her crop is squishy. She is not eating or drinking. Besides a vet, do I have any options, and is this common? This is my 2nd chicken this year that has presented this way. The first I treated for coccidiosis, sour crop with monistat, and syringe gave her water only to still have her pass. Honestly I feel like she was miserable having me shove things in her beak her final days, so I'm hesitant to treat like that with this one. Thank you for your help.

Forgot to add, 9 girls have an 8x5 coop, 8x16 covered run and a tunnel that leads to another 6x10 run. They are fed nutrena all flock with oyster shell and grit on the side. 2 feed stations and 3 water stations. I've tried to do everything you all have taught me on this forum that I can but feeling defeated 😞

Not sure if anyone can give any guidance, I gave her another soak today to try and wash the poop off her feathers (also gave them a trim) she has had a calcium tablet today and the past 2 days crushed and scrambled in an egg, which she ate pretty well. Her belly is very distended, and I think I felt something egg like when I was washing her externally. I'm still learning so much about chickens, but I would say the egg like mass was maybe 3 inches below her vent? Is that the right spot for it? She still has yellow/white watery poops, but is still going into roost, so I've let her stay with the flock for most of the day and night since she seems happier there.

I would give the calcium up to 7 days, in case she is having trouble laying an egg or a lash egg. She is very young to have such as distended lower abdomen, and that can be a sign of internal laying/salpingitis (inflammation of the oviduct) or water belly. Any pictures of her dropping can be posted. An antibiotic such as amoxicillin or enrofloxacin could be give with her symptoms. Unfortunately the amoxicillin is put in the water for 10 days and should not be given to the others. The enrofloxacin is given 0.1 ml per every 2.2 pounds of weight twice daily for 5 days. Do not eat her eggs for 3 weeks after treatment. Here is a link for amoxicillin and another for enrofloxacin:

Thank you for the links and guidance. Is there one you would suggest over the other? I can get some ordered and on its way today. I have a kennel in their run i can keep her in to administer (only way I could give her eggs without the others gobbling them up!) Her droppings today were scant, but did look more normal. Could this be a new layer whoopsie or would this likely be a recurring issue with her? Today is day 18 since her first and only egg.

I’m not a vet. If a vet is possible you could get amoxicillin capsules. No antibiotics are approved for chickens. Enrofloxacin is actually banned for them by the FDA although it is better for treating reproductive infections. It is used for other animals. If that doesn’t bother you, I would give the enrofloxacin. It is given orally twice a day and she could remain with the flock.

Yes, but your insight is still appreciated. I ordered the enrofloxacin tablets. They still won't be here for a couple of days, and hopefully she will improve without them, but I will have them for her, or for future issues. I did read up on the FDA ban prior to ordering to get a better understanding. I am very cautious with antibiotics in my own family, but I also know there can be a time and place for them. I will update on her condition if something changes. I really do appreciate your help. 💜

The first looks like thin shell with a lot of calcium deposits. The second is really strange, almost like extra thin shell, deposits, and wrinkled. Have you heard any sneezing recently with a mild respiratory disease, or has their been a lot of stress in the flock? Her oviduct and it’s shell gland certainly has something going on. I would continue the calcium, and calcium citrate with D 3 300-600 mg a day is okay for 7 days. Here is one that is a good price:

Here is a good article to read about egg shells, how they are formed, and possible reasons for abnormal shells. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/common-egg-quality-problems.65923/
