I don't remember how old the other one was when I fully realized that he was a he and not a she, but I know it was before he started crowing.That does not look obviously "male" to me at the moment, but of course the next few weeks could change that.
Yes, it generally is easier to tell when you have several to compare with each other, but most chicks become obviously male or female within the first few months anyway.
I don't know how long Bellatrix(BR) and Zora(the speckled sussex) had been at the store by the time we got them, but I believe they will be 3 weeks this weekend maybe. On Monday will be 3 weeks since we got them from the store though.
