This is my little Sapphire Gem chickie.
She/he is only 3 weeks old, so I TOTALLY get it if it’s too early to tell. I was just wondering if y’all had any guesses!

Sapphire Gems are a sexlink chicken, males have barring, females are solid blue.

Plus males would have a headspot, which would be noticeable on hatchlings.

I say female!!!

Yay! Thank you guys!

I knew they were a sex link of some sort, but couldn’t remember the trick for them, so just made sure to specify.
Thanks again! I love her, and would be pretty disappointed if I had to get rid of her.

If it is for sure a Sapphire Gem, it's a pullet.
Hmmm…
I BOUGHT it as a Sapphire Gem, but we all know TSC.

I had been slightly concerned by the thick legs, comb coming in, and stubby tail.
Other brooder mates have long, notable tails.

The tail has no baring on gender. The leg thickness really does not, either, as I have some hens that had some thick legs as pullets. And Sapphire Gems do grow large combs and waddles, so the fact a female may grow them early is not a deal breaker. I hope you enjoy her!
