Hi guys, about six weeks ago I had a breeding service visit my work (I work with kids). We had an incubator and watched all the chicks hatch etc.. it was pretty cool. I took six of the chicks home and was told that they’re was a 99% chance that they would all be female. I have my suspicions about this one though.. she’s a lot bigger than the others and am wondering if she is actually a he. What do I do if I get a rooster? And how can I tell if the others are pullets or cockerels? Thanks guys!

May just be a larger breed than the others? You can't see the full bottoms of the feet but what I can looks pinky/gray, is that right? If they are then that one is an Australorp and they are a larger breed. Did they vent sex them?

The feathers on the neck look like hen feathers to me but 6 weeks is pretty young. It may just be a bigger hen. I have three copper maran hens and even though they are they same breed one is huge one is very small and the other is right in the middle. Same with all my hens that share a breed really. Some just look like runts compared to the others.

I’m pretty sure they were feather sexed by the breeders.

And yes I think the breeders said that the chicks (before they hatched) would either be Austrolorp, Black and White Leghorn or Lohmanns. :)

It's not screaming cockerel right now, but you may want to repost pictures at about 8-10 weeks so that we can be more sure :)
What do you do if one is a rooster? Well you might have babies in a year or so or you can give him to a good home that wants a rooster or if worse comes to worse he could be dinner. As for sexing them I just wait to see if it crows or lays an egg. Seriously it's hard for me to tell the difference and I hear a lot of other people say the same thing. I have Silkies, Jersey Giants and Americuans. I love them all but the Silkies rule right now. I think one of them is about to start laying and they are old enough that you can tell the rooster from the hens. He is one cocky little boy and puffs up at anyone except me who comes in his area. He's so funny though and looks like a ball of fur with a beak and chicken feet. I'll be posting pictures soon.
